Bio

My name is Erin, and I am a final year Interactive Media student at Ulster University Coleraine. Throughout my course I developed various valuable skills through different projects including developing a brand identity and website for Antrim Geopark and my major project ‘The Rebrand of UUC RFC’. I have further developed my IT skills including graphics design and web design, as well as professional workplace skills including teamwork and time-management. My core strengths include Illustrator, print work and web design. Another core strength of mine is my ability to liaise with clients and fellow students confidently and professionally.

Major Project: The Rebrand of UUC RFC

In 2014 Ulster University rebranded, which arguably has left the Ulster University Rugby Football Club at the Coleraine campus without an identity. A rebrand could provide the club with the much-needed identity thus appealing to potential players, sponsors, and investments. Thus, the purpose of this rebrand is to re-establish the individuality of Ulster University Rugby Club based at the Coleraine campus thus improving the participation levels of players, allowing for more sponsorships and funds to be attained which altogether ensure the future of the rugby club itself. This rebrand of the Ulster University Coleraine Rugby club consists of the development of a new brand identity as well as the establishment of a better digital presence. I developed 5 different logos with playing kits and water bottle mock-ups to better visualise how the design would work. Having decided on the final concept to move forward with I then developed a website prototype using Figma which was centred around the chosen design to provide an interactive digital presence.

By analysing existing research, academic papers and carrying out case studies relating to the topic at hand this determined the design approach when it came to carrying out my own rebrand effectively.
